Hard Riddles or Silly Riddles?

I'm a full-time blogger who spend a lot of time in front of the computer. During stressful day, I love to search for funny or hard riddles, to refresh my mind but also keeps it sharp at the same time. A while ago, I found couples of intriguing puzzles, which some people might consider it hard, while the others probably say they're just plain silly. For me, there's always simple answer for every difficult problems.

So, try not to think to hard and you'll be able to answer these riddles just fine:

Riddle #1

I turn polar bears white
and I will make you cry.
I make guys have to pee
and girls comb their hair.
I make celebrities look stupid
and normal people look like celebrities.
I turn pancakes brown
and make your champagne bubble.
If you squeeze me, I'll pop.
If you look at me, you'll pop.
Can you guess the riddle?

97% of Harvard graduates can not figure this riddle out, but 84% of kindergarten students were able to figure this out in a minutes or less. Can you guess the correct answer?

Riddle #2

Angry and hungry are two words that end in '-gry'.
There are three words in the English language.
What is the third word?
Everyone knows what it means and everyone uses it every day.
Look closely and I have already given you the third word.
What is it?

Where Did The $1 Go?

Okay, this mathematical anomaly has drive me crazy for a while, before I got the answer when browsed the web. Can you solve it before check the answer?

Three friends check into a motel for the night and the clerk tells them the bill is $30, payable in advance. So, they each pay the clerk $10 and go to their room.

A few minutes later, the clerk realizes he has made an error and overcharged the trio by $5. He asks the bellhop to return $5 to the 3 friends who had just checked in.

The bellhop sees this as an opportunity to make $2 as he reasons that the three friends would have a tough time dividing $5 evenly among them; so he decides to tell them that the clerk made a mistake of only $3, giving a dollar back to each of the friends. He pockets the leftover $2 and goes home for the day!

Now, each of the three friends gets a dollar back, thus they each paid $9 for the room which is a total of $27 for the night. We know the bellhop pocketed $2 and adding that to the $27, you get $29, not $30 which was originally spent. Where did the other dollar go?

The Answer

The facts in this riddle are clear: There is an initial $30 charge. It should have been $25, so $5 must be returned and accounted for. $3 is given to the 3 friends, $2 is kept by the bellhop - there you have the $5.

The trick to this riddle is that the addition and subtraction are done at the wrong times to misdirect your thinking - and quite successfully for most. Each of the 3 friends did indeed pay $9, not $10, and as far as the friends are concerned, they paid $27 for the night.

But we know that the clerk will tell us that they were charged only $25 and when you add the $3 returned with the $2 kept by the bellhop, you come up with $30.

Note: Some people still won't get it after reading the answer, don't blame me though. For conclusion, it's just a matter of perception.

Optimize Your Brain

It's been a while since I last updated my brain teaser category. Now, I want to write a little about brain training activity and where you can test your IQ.

Have you read Dan Brown's newest novel, The Lost Symbol? There are some interesting stuffs you might be noticed, including Albrecht Durer's painting, Melancolia (1514). In that painting, there are 4x4 square contains numbers where if you add all the numbers vertically, horizontally, even diagonally you'll get the same sum of 34.

You know what's better than that? It's the 8th Degree Magic Square that composed by one of the America's founding father, Benjamin Franklin. It works almost the same as Durer's square, with 8x8 size. Those magic squares are a harder game than Sudoku, I think.

Now you might think how come those men can be so genius? Well, brain is working like any other muscles in your body. To get it works sharper, faster, and better, you need to do a brain exercises, the same like you do fitness to train your muscles.

It's time to introduce you to brainmetrix.com, an educational website dedicated to brain training programs. It's fun and free! You can find a lot of brain activities there, such as memory test, chess game, math problems, IQ test, and other ways to boost your mind and stimulate you to think harder. Try it!

Funny Way to Check Your Disorder

Which Mental Disorder Do You Have? Check It Out!

Below are six colored circles that can help you identify any hidden psychological disorders you might have. Try to see the numbers inside the every colored circle:

If you can't see the number in one of the 6 test circles above, you very likely might have this problem:
Circle no.1: Very aggressive and high temper person
Circle no.2: Possible low than average intellectual abilities
Circle no.3: Possible debauchery, you should get more physical exercises.

Circle no.4: Possible inclination to violence
Circle no.5: Absolutely have a homosexuality
Circle no.6: Possible schizophrenic tendency. Require more thoroughly inspection.

Okay, don't say that there is no number in circle number 5, because there is. If you can't see it, doesn't mean no one can't. You might really have a disorder, go to psychiatry and check yourself. This is not a joke (or is it? Well, I'm not sure :D).

Keep smiling and have fun, anyway!

Mathematical Equation

I have a little problem with this mathematical equation below. Can any of you help me to solve this paradox?

That equation seems to be true, but actually there is a logical explanation about this mathematical paradox.

The Answers

The 64 = 65 paradox arises from the fact that the edges of the four pieces, which lie along the diagonal of the formed rectangle, do not coincide exactly in direction. This diagonal is not a straight segment line but a small lozenge (diamond-shaped figure), whose acute angle is arctan 2/3 - arctan 3/8 = arctan 1/46 which is less than 1 degree 15'.

Only a very precise drawing can enable us to distinguish such a small angle. Using analytic geometry or trigonometry, we can easily prove that the area of the "hidden" lozenge is equal to that of a small square of the chessboard.

Okay, sorry, I didn't even understand myself about that answer that I wrote up there. To make it simple: there is a "hole" in that picture, try to redraw that equation and you'll realize that those just a nice optical illusion.

Who Will You Choose?

Let's Have Another Brain Test.

You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night. You pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus:
An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
An old friend who once saved your life.
The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car.

Think before you continue reading.

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application.

You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first; or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back. However, you may never be able to find your perfect dream lover again.

The candidate who was hired (out of 2000 applicants) had no trouble coming up with an answer.

Old Friend, Your Dream Girl, or Sick Old Lady

What Did He Say?

He simply answered: "I would give the car keys to my old friend, and let him take the lady to the hospital. And I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the woman of my dreams."

Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn thought limitations. Never forget to "Think Outside of the Box."

Can you solve these funny questions? Just look for the answers below if you get stuck. Enjoy and have fun!

It is unusual though. Study it, and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out! Try to do so without any coaching!

ANSWERS

1. The third. Lions that haven't eaten in three years are dead.
2. The woman was a photographer. She shot a picture of her husband, developed it, and hung it up to dry.
3. The answer is Charcoal. In Homer Simpson's words: hmmmm... Barbecue.
4. Sure you can: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow!
5. The letter "e", which is the most common letter in the English language, does not appear once in the long paragraph.

Brain Illusion

Let us tell you a fact about how brain works that you probably haven't know yet.
First, let's do some test. Look at the pictures below and say the COLOR of the word, not the word itself.

You found that difficult? Want to know why?
That's because the right half of your brain is trying to say the color, while the left side of your brain is trying to say the word. This mean that your left brain works stronger than the right one. Balance both sides of your brain with lot of practices to gain much benefits!

Test Your Brain

Test Yout Brain --------------------- 1st part

Read out loud the text inside the triangle below.

More than likely you said, "A bird in the bush," and........
if this IS what YOU said, then you failed to see that the word THE is repeated twice!

Sorry, look again.

Next, let's play with some words.

What do you see?

In black you can read the word GOOD, in white the word EVIL (inside each black letter is a white letter). It's all very physiological too, because it visualize the concept that good can't exist without evil (or the absence of good is evil ).

Now, what do you see?

You may not see it at first, but the white spaces read the word optical, the blue landscape reads the word illusion. Look again! Can you see why this painting is called an optical illusion?

What do you see here?

This one is quite tricky!

The word TEACH reflects as LEARN.

You probably read the word ME in brown, but.......

when you look through ME you will see YOU!

TEST YOUR BRAIN -------------- 2nd Part

This is really cool. The second one is amazing so please read all the way though.

ALZHEIMERS' EYE TEST

Count every " F" in the following text:

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI
FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS...

HOW MANY ?

WRONG, THERE ARE 6 -- no joke.

READ IT AGAIN !

Really, go Back and Try to find the 6 F's before you scroll down.

The reasoning behind is further down.

The brain cannot process "OF".

Anyone who counts all 6 "F's" on the first go is a genius.

Three is normal, four is quite rare.

Send this to your friends. It will drive them crazy.! And keep them occupied for several minutes..!

How Thorough are You?

There are many human faces in the picture below. Can you find them all?

Normal people found 6 of them.

If you find 8 of them, you have an extraordinary sense of observation.

If you find 9 of them, you have a sense of observation above the average.

If you find 10 of them, you are very observer.

If you find 11 and more, you are extremely observer.

Have fun!!
